Patient Feedback!
Slow & Steady!
This person came to me with what appeared to be a fairly clean and healthy diet… So why wasn’t she losing weight? Why was she prediabetic?
Together we worked on some long held dietary beliefs that were deeply rooted in the low-fat, low-cholesterol diet hypothesis (LFLC) based on centuries old (and somewhat questionable) research. She was skeptical when we worked on decreasing carbs (even healthy ones!) and increasing protein and healthy plant fats. She needed to build trust and see results.
Weight loss has been slow, but steady, and she’s kept it off over the course of our relationship. In order to keep patients motivated when weight loss is slow, I LOVE being able to monitor labs. Here we saw some major markers of metabolic disease improve, specifically, the fasting glucose, triglycerides, and blood pressure. We’re on the right track!
